What is Vampire Survivors about?

Vampire Survivors is an upcoming time-survival bullet-hell roguelike RPG 😀 That’s a description we all like! Let’s wreck all the enemies, collect more weapons, upgrade them and then get super weapons to mow them down even faster! But at the end of all, Death awaits. But hey then you can start again 😉

How to play Vampire Survivors

Vampire Survivors is pretty straight forward to play. You choose a character 24 upcoming characters, go into one of the stages and start killing enemies. The enemy waves are going to get stronger over time and in specific time intervals a boss will spawn too. So how do you survive that? After you kill an enemy there will be a crystal drop. Those crystals are dropped in different colors which correspond to different experience values. While collecting experience points you will gain levels and are able to choose to get a new weapon/power up or upgrade an existing one. There is something for each playstyle to find:

Whip: Hits left and right
Magic Wand: Shoots at the nearest enemy
Knife: Slash all the enemies that are in front of you
Axe: Like Tomahawk it gets thrown into enemy ranks
Cross: Shuriken Boomerang for the win
King Bible: It will orbit around you and keep you save
Garlic: A “special” zone will keep enemies away
Santa Water: More like puddle of death
Lightning Ring: Can’t control it, but zapping is cool
Pentagram: Erase everything
Runetracer: Bouncing floating orb of death
Peachone: A bombing bird

And those are just the basic weapons. The developer do want to add 49 different weapons. Although some of them are “just” super versions of the existing one. If you get the Fire Wand to max. level while having Spinach too, your Fire Wand can evolve into Hellfire! To get this evolution you need to get a chest drop from an elite (blue halo) enemy or an boss enemy. Those evolved weapons will deal even more damage and are so fun to play 😀 Gotta find all the combinations 😉

As said there are not only weapons. You can also equip from 20 different Power Ups. The Devs are currently working on implementing Arcanas. You will be able to equip 3 of those that will change specific game mechanics. Like getting additional revives or increasing the duration of effects.

What to do after death?

So you died duh! That’s the end of all the Vampire Survivors runs. It’s fine so no harm done. After a great run you get to cash out on your coins. With these you are able to purchase general power ups and get even stronger. Another investment would be in unlocking more characters to play and go on the next adventure in one of the other maps. There is much to do!

My Conclusion

There is so much to explore and find out. Really looking forward to the finished game. Vampire Survivors is at a really playable stage. The Devs will now add more stuff into the existing Gameplay. I’m looking to the final version. Until then I keep playing the Alpha 😉 Maybe you should too!
