Loop Hero – Review
What is Loop Hero about?
A mysterious figure has turned our world upside down. What has happened? The only thing we can remember is a skeleton mage, maybe a Lich? Everything is fuzzy, but someone has to return order into the world and bring it back to how it was! But have we been here before? (Short time later…) Eh? Yeah I’ve been here before! Is this a loop?!?! Maybe we can find something if we continue exploring!
Loop Hero is a great Roguelike RPG with great narrative and unique play styles. Explore the world, collect Resources and rebuild the world by defeating hideous monsters.
Summary:
- 3 unlockable characters
- Warrior -> Tough Melee Fighter
- Thief -> Quick Looter
- Necromancer -> By the power of Undead
- Manage your Equipment and Card placements and decide how fast to scale in difficulty. How long can you survive?
- Rebuild your camp and unlock new cards and boni
- Break the loop and save the world!
How to play Loop Hero?

After starting a new game we’re thrown into a world ending scenario. After we woke up, our head is hurting and our memories are really fuzzy. But we still try to go on. The game is pretty good at explaining the base mechanics. The first area will explain that the hero will run by himself on the shown road. The road is arranged as loop and at the end of the loop we go through our camp to get some healing. But on our way we will find some monsters. They are trying to kill us, so we kill them and take there body parts, eh… their loot and improve ourself. The monsters also drop cards. These cards can be used to “remember” some tiles on the map. Some of these cards interact with each other to build something bigger like a mountain. But these are not explained by the game. After some loops we do return back to our camp and rest for a little bit. We did take some loot with us, so we can start to build some building. With each building we get more cards, some upgrade or can even unlock new hero classes.
On our first run after the tutorial we try to remember where this road goes to, but its still fuzzy. We remember some things, but not everything so lets explore again.
We push through the monsters until we meet a vampire. First he looks kinda nice, but then he wants payment? He wants our blood, so he has to die! But we’re not strong enough (yet). Sometime later we will also die and are thrown back to the camp. Back at the campsite we see humans? There are more survivors! Now we can build more, unlock more cards and start again on the first mission until we beat that Lich!
My Conclusion
Its a unique experience playing Loop Hero and i really like it. I will continue playing it for some more episodes. I do enjoy the soundtrack and the story line. I’m looking forward how the story continues.
