What are Classes?

Today we are going to talk about Tainted Grail: Conquest, and what you need to do to be able to unlock more characters and new classes! Sometimes, when starting a new game, it can be a little overwhelming trying to understand everything about it, so I will try to assist you in understanding the game better. I will start by talking about how classes work and how to unlock new ones.

Every RPG game has a class system, and to put it simply, a class gives your character unique skills. Every different class focuses on a certain status, and each one of them has a different role while in combat. Tainted Grail also has a class system, and they are spread across three different factions that you can choose in-game.

The three factions are Children Of Morrigan, Moonring, and Watchers Of Tuathan. If you choose Children Of Morrigan, you will be able to select from three different classes, and all of their focus more on melee combat, and their skill reduces the enemy’s armor, deflect damage, and blocks attacks. The three available classes are Pathfinder, Berserker, and Wyrdhunter. These three classes share some passives, but each of them has a unique skill set.

Children Of Morrigan

Wyrdhunter

Wyrdhunter focus more on passive that gives them armor and reduces their enemies’ armor. Its ultimate when activated lets you draw one card for every three charges consumed, and gains one energy for every six charges consumed. A written Build Guide for a Stun Wyrdhunter can be found here.

Berserker

Berserker’s abilities will often activate when taking damage, and their ultimate gives you life steal depending on how many charges are consumed. The Berserker can be played with High Health but also on low health. Here is a Build Guide for 25% Health Berserker!

Pathfinder

Pathfinder’s abilities focus on drawing more cards and blocking, and their ultimate when activated hits enemies once, and the damage is boosted by how many charges are consumed. So you either go for Blocks or Stuns to prevent Damage. In case of Stun Build have a look here on our build guide.

Moonring

The other faction you can choose is Moonring, and the three classes in it are Summoner, Blood mage, and Necromancer. I will now talk about each of them, and about their abilities. I know this can seem like a lot, but I will do my best to make it as simple as possible to understand.

Summoner

Summoner is the last one that you can choose, and they can summon monster whenever they want, but their life is directly connected to them. So if your minions get hit, will you. Your minions can be promoted, and their power can grow endlessly. Their ultimate is charged every time you summon a minion, and when activated, you can upgrade a minion by a certain amount of levels, depending on how many charges you consume.

Blood Mage

Blood mages use their blood to summon minions, and in each turn, the minions are activated and upgraded. But when reaching level four, minions will overcharge, triggering a special effect, and disappearing from the battlefield. They can charge their ultimate ability by offering their blood, and when activated, they overcharge a minion, and the more charges you have, the more effective its effect will be. Necromancer

The Necromancer can control dead bodies, and their minion is automatically activated, but they get weaker after every turn. Their ultimate is charged every time something dies. When fully charged, you can activate it by consuming all the six charges, and consuming all of your minions to summon a powerful Lich. The Lich is a powerful creature, and it gives you three energy and will turn all of your other cards into Lich too.

Watcher of Tuathan

The last faction is called The Watcher of Tuathan. And like the others, three classes are specific to it. And these three will be the last ones we talk about for now. You can choose Sentinel, Apostate, and Zealot.

Sentinel

The Sentinel will focus on shooting as many arrows as they can. They have weak stats but can use buffs to increase their damage. You charge your ultimate every time that you shoot arrows. When used, your ultimate will hit random enemies, and its damage and how many times it will hit depend on how many charges are used. There are so many ways on playing the Sentinel. You can go Maschine Gunning with your Ultimate as a multi hitting AOE or you can use the power of Quivers with this Quiver Build.

Apostate

Apostate focuses on flipping maneuvers (a card that has many states, and flips after being played) and uses the most powerful side of the card. By making use of the maneuvers, you can always make the best of a bad situation. Their ultimate is charged every time that a card is flipped. When activated, flip all the cards in your hand and gives you more damage depending on how many charges are consumed

Zealot

The Zealot seems to be weak, but at the right time, it can deal a large amount of damage. They have weak statuses, but with the right opportunity, they can be lethal! Their ultimate is charged by collecting unused cards, and when you gather enough of them, you can unleash your ultimate. Your ultimate will draw one of three elemental arrows, and when used, in your next ultimate only the other two arrows will be available. The more amount of charges you have, the bigger the damage you will deal. The Zealot is pretty similar to the Pathfinder. Here is a small guide for a Zealot build.

How to unlock new Classes?

You can unlock them by accumulating points. Now, how exactly do you accumulate points you might be asking. It’s easy! You just need to play the game, and attempt runs. In a run your objective is to try and survive as long as you can and to successfully end a run, you need to defeat the final boss. But a run can also end by dying to the enemies. But if you die, don’t worry, you will need to start from the beginning, but not everything will be lost. Things like the classes you unlocked, quest items, stories, and quest progressions, will all be kept.

And how many points you win will be determined after the run ends. You will unlock three factions cards, one class or cosmetic, and two class passives every time you get twenty thousand points.

From my understanding the order of class unlocks is:

1. Wyrdhunter (Starting class)
2. Summoner
3. Sentinel
4. Pathfinder
5. Blood Mage
6. Zealot
7. Berserker
8. Apostate
9. Necromancer
